TurboCopter v2.0

my good friends at Next engine want to showcase P-P as a WIP for customers and buyers alike. I think thats is just so fantastic! So, I am redoing the Turbo Copter this week and giving them the project scan file so that they can use that as a case study!

It so nice being able to afford the time to just kick back and resume scanning…. I have been so busy recently, and decided a few months back that sharing P-P with other paid work was a bad idea and unfair to both projects. So, now I can relax, I have my evenings and weekends back and its time to pick up from where I left off.

The Sea Wolf still needs to be finished, and that will happen on the commute.

Looking forward to seeing what Dan and the guys at Next Engine come up with for the P-P case study.

Project-Palitoy is supported by:

Pilot and Turbo Combined

OK, so thats that! Im certain there will be tweaks (good name for a CG movie with Daniel Day lewis as the Pioneering creater of the Blinn Shader… THERE WILL BE TWEAKS!)…

where was I? Oh yeah! Tweaks. As I get deeper and deeper into Mental Ray and its on line community, I am certain materials, shaders and ‘tings will get tweaked, but for now, this is done and its time to move onto some more characters and vehicles.

Turbocopter with Physical Sky Render

I just wanted to see what the Gamma adjusted textures look like in MR Physical sky.

Its ok, but I think Im going to have a play with the materials a little as well as texture in some noise, scratches and wear and tear…. Its a little “too” clean!

Further WIP

Ha ha, spot the difference!

Yep… now with the Vizor mouthpeice, which always bothered me as a child. It just kinda hung there off the helmet and face, never really attached to anything….

Uniform WIP

Coming along. Needs better MR Shaders though

Lots to do, but happy with the start.

Of all things 3D I have to say that I get the least amount of pleasure out of texturing…

But I am forcing myself to enjoy this part of the process in the hope that lessons wil be learnt along the way…. perhaps even discovering a love for texturing.

Its looking a little “painterly” at the moment, but with a refine here and there, as well as some painted seams, it should look fine once married to the Turbocopter and animated…

Im hoping that by this time next week I will be rendering out a few hundred frames of a Turbo Copter test to see how it all gels.

Further updates on the Turbo Wip

Some slight yet effective changes to the Turbo Copter.

New Control arms, based on a Next Engine scan, but took a bit more time on the detail and edge beveling.

Click on the image to get a better look, but hopefully its an improvement on the previous version below.

Textures and straps to be done at the weekend.

Further update on the Turbocopter WIP

Update:

Re-doing the arms on the turbocopter. I dont like the current ones..

Its missing the straps as well as the thumb press to make the blades spin…., but certainly heading in the right direction….

Up Up and away!!!

I dont normally post scans AS they are scanning, but this is going to be cool as mustard!
