As a Mocap Supervisor on films, I have had the luxury of working with some really cool state of the art Mocap hardware.
In fact, going back to 1994, when all my oerformance animation characters were created using Motionstar and Motion star Wireless systems, I have always been fortunate to be exoposed to really cool time saving devices.
P-P has on many occassions introduced me to some really cool gear and even cooler people…
Dan and the guys at Next Engine…
Duncan and the chaps at PCA..
Those super clever types over at Natural Motion and Andy Payne!
And now I find myself looking at the actual performance side of PP. I have always maintained that Mocap was the way to go, and it is! And I think I have found the perfect solution. Why this product has no presence here in the UK is beyond me… maybe P-P can change that.. well P-P and beyond
Optitrack Motion capture is SO on my want list now… !
The Actor that I always imagined as being the perfect choice for the lead Character in PP apparently likes the idea and his agent has asked that I keep them abreast of all developments. So, as soon as I have a shooting script ready, I hope that its enough to get the man on board!
Of course, I am not going to say who, so dont even ask
Needless to say that back in the day, this guy would have whooped Jason Statham’s ass and then some. But its more than that, its about the swagger, the coolness, the sense of loyalty, but also the sense of danger and the fact that if pushed, this mans character could have become a leathal weapon….. all the things that need to be conveyed in such a short time.
So, back from work and really not in a mood to sit and chill out…. especially as I know that the seat is the last part of the Sea Wolf that nees my attention at this point.
So, here is the original Scan, as well as the Low Rez cage generated in TopoGun that will now get the Maya treatment
the Sea-Wolf features quite a bit in the first scene after the recap, both in the race to base as well as the fleet of them already docked, so need to get the AM scuba Vest etc scanned and ready.. but im a little ahead of myself there..
Really enjoyed modelling the claw assembly from scratch. Decided to not scan because I dont want to forget how to model altogether!
So, just need clean up on the seat that I scanned last week and the periscope. Then I need to rig its controls for animation and move on to the next thing on the list
Well, give or take a vertex or two, I am back to where I was last sunday before the Copy Paste mess-up
Im liking this one more anyway, because it has little uneven are’s just like on the original, and those surface flaws (mild dents probably either in the original sculpt or age damage) came through in the scan data…
Now need to do internals, as well as seat and external fittings.
