Atomic Scan_001

So, doing a rough pass. Want to see if I need to treat the surface. The scan is fantastic, but I do need to do something about his glass eye. I  have decided to remove the glass element, so that he scans with just a hole. So, Saturday is my first day back on P-P and I have two tasks to complete. The head scan and the Sea Wold seat

Project-Palitoy is supported by:

His name is MAN, ATOMIC MAN

Well, not in PP its not, but mid way through the latter part of the 1970′s he appeared in all the Action Man brochures, alongside Bullet Man, and soon to be joined by Space Ranger, ROM and some horrid plastic reptile beast that was a castaway from the ill fated Super Joe range in the US.

Atomic Man just didnt feel like he fit the canon. I never felt like I had to have one because he just looked different. To me, he was an after thought…. More like, Action Boy. He wasnt the Six Million Dollar Man, and yet, it was clear to all who saw him, with his robotic limbs and electronic eye, he wanted to be the Bionic man. He was basically Hasbros answer to the Six Million Dollar man, and he was doomed.

But, I have decided to not only include him in PP, but he has a pivotal role in the larger story.

When we first meet him, we meet him as the younger partner to our hero. He is young, keen and loyal to the end. But as the story progress’ we realise that all is not well.

In the middle of a feirce battle, he is taken by the DREGGS (cheers Doug), a rag tag band of Frankenstein like Action Figures cobbled together from the best and worst bits available…. Under their influence, he is finally returned back to base, where he bleongs, but the DREGGS have “augmented him” with an array of new “limbs and appendages” as part of their plan to bring down THE ELITE (the collective good guys)

Ooops, giving you an insight into the inner workings of PP, and your probably not ready for that yet. I know Im not.

Anyway, as well as an Atomic Man body (which I may use as the basis for his augmented body, I may only refer to it in passing and go a differnet route), I have secured two heads. One for scanning and the other for look dev reference….

When we first meet him, he will have normal eyes (possibly taking a few liberties and give him eagle eyes. But upon his “rescue” he will be very horribly scared and mutilated, with an eye patch literally bolted on so as to cover up his occular augmentations……

He may look like Mr American Pie now, but when I am done he will certainly make a worthy nemisisisisisisis

:)

Letting you have it with an Atomic Right!

what a weird weird month…

OK, so first things first.

This post comes to the blog from St Richards hospital. My appendix blew a fuse on Monday night. Ironically, it was the first day of a proposed month of from all work engagements to get PP moving. I had delivered my last crowd shots for Roland Emerichs 2012 and was looking forward to some rest time.

Typical I guess for someone who likes to think of himself as the Duracell Bunny… going on & on & on. You just cant maintain that kind of momentum forever. I had not taken a ny time off since two years previous really, and to go from the full on schedule of a Terry Gilliam flick into a huge blockbuster probably played some part in this weeks events.

But the time following the previous post and this have been full. Working with an old friend in Alaska, I finally delivered a long document for the Project Palitoy back story and overall arc to this old chum of mine, Doug Smith. Not only is he a talented writer, but he gets the I.P and brings some nice ideas to the table. Its now in his hands as I wait to see if he is on the right path. I am quietly confident that his first pass will show great promise.

The story and arc has changed a lot in the last month, and the introduction of a new nemisis was created using Palitoys Atomic Man figure as the basis for this new character…. Its quite an exciting development and of course sent me back to ebay looking for original parts to scan. The plan was tp scan those this week, but I guess I have to wait. Atomic Mans head was a different sculpt altogether although he shares the same basic body parts.

When we first meet him, all is well and he is normal, with no body augmentation. One of the guys. But as the plot moves on, things happen and his augmentation begins… but unlike in the classic Palitoy range, he is not one of the good guys by the time the augmentation comes to light.

So, he needs a scan. Then a build and some post work for extensive battle damage.

Then there is the matter from the last post. The nice chaps at Natural Point should be helping out with some hardware that will not only help project-palitoy but also inform my purchasing decisions when I set up studio. I am desperately excited by these recent developments because Mocap will certainly move things along greatly. I plan to use that evaluation period to its full advantage which is why I am hoping all these loose parts, up in the air will soon settle. That plus a speedy recovery from this weeks fun & games.

So, no pictures from Project-Palitoy to offer up but I did find a use for the grapes I was given this week.

One of the guys a couple of beds up had an unfortunate bowel incident that had an effect on the rest of the room, but as you can see, I was prepared and able to continue

Skillzzz
